Culture releases the winning works of the 2011 Annual Literature Awards<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Directorate of Literary Management of the Ministry of Culture released the winning works of the \u201c2011 Annual Literature Awards\u201d during a ceremony that took place at the Ram\u00f3n Oviedo Art Room at the Ministry\u2019s headquarters. Writers and prominent personalities of the national cultural life attended the event. <\/P> The ceremony was led by the Director of Literary Management, Basilio Belliard; the General Director of Books and Reading, Valent\u00edn Amaro; the Director of the National Publishing House, Le\u00f3n F\u00e9lix Batista; and Le\u00f3n David, one of the winners. <\/P> The works that were released are: \u201cLa secta del crisantemo (The chrysanthemum sect)\u201d by \u00c1ngela Hern\u00e1ndez, winner of the Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n L\u00f3pez National Short Story Awared; \u201c\u00bfY tu abuela d\u00f3nde est\u00e1? el negro en la historia y la cultura dominicana (And where is your grandmother? black in Dominican history and culture)\u201d by Carlos Esteban Deive, winner of the Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a National Essay Award; \u201cDeb\u00ed dibujar el mar en alguna parte (I should have drawn the sea somewhere)\u201d, by Ariadna V\u00e1squez Germ\u00e1n, winner of the Salom\u00e9 Ure\u00f1a de Henr\u00edquez National Poetry Award; and \u201cLa escandalosa vida y muy comentada historia de la casta Susana o las incre\u00edbles peripecias de la virtud (The scandalous life and much commented story of chaste Susana or the incredible adventures of virtue)\u201d by Le\u00f3n David, winner of the Crist\u00f3bal de Llerena National Theatre Award. <\/P> In his speech, Belliard said that \u201cthe Ministry of Culture has fulfilled its commitment and duty to edit unpublished works that have won the Annual Literature Awards, in different genres and forms, as stated in the rules of this annual event, the books that authors submit to the competition when they receive an award from the jury.\u201d <\/P> He praised the quality of each of the winning works and the trajectory of each of the writers, as well as the awards they have received in recent times in their respective careers. He then said, \u201cThese four works will strengthen the bibliographical catalog of books that have been edited by the Ministry, through the National Publishing House, led with such professionalism and efficiency by poet Le\u00f3n F\u00e9lix Batista, whom we congratulate for his careful editions.\u201d <\/P>

Writer \u00c1ngela Hern\u00e1ndez thanked the authorities on behalf of the winners. She spoke of the passion for writing and the dedication of the authors to produce their works, and thanked all those who made the ceremony possible. <\/P>
