Nagua, host of the second meeting of the First National Call for Cultural Projects 2013 ost Basic Necessity, WATER, Closes the III Dominican Environmental Film Festival<\/SPAN><\/STRONG> C<\/SPAN>ultural managers from four provinces will meet next weekend with authorities from the Ministry of Culture (MINC), as part of the “First National Call for Cultural Project 2013,” which is being sponsored by that government agency. The first meeting of this round of talks was held last week in Barahona. Twelve cultural initiatives presented by representatives of the southern region were approved.<\/P> This important activity will be chaired by Minister Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez and will be held from Friday, September 6th, to Sunday, September 8th, in the Curne Auditorium of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). <\/P> The meeting for the presentation of projects is scheduled for Saturday. After the presentations are complete, the projects will be evaluated as part of the approval by Ministry authorities, who will announce the selected projects at the end of the event. <\/P> This second get-together includes the declaration of the province of Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez as “Cultural City of that region” by the MINC.<\/P> The agenda also includes the presentation of an official proclamation by the City Council to the Minister of Culture, declaring him as “distinguished guest” of the city. <\/P> The cultural event will start on Friday, September 6th and will end on Sunday, September 8th with a variety of cultural and artistic activities that include music and food. The Sunday event will also feature the development of four educational murals; painting and literary workshops; an outdoor reading festival and a lecture on the cultural history of the provinces. <\/P> In addition to the government headquarters, the program will take place at the Tatico Henr\u00edquez Park, at schools, high schools, in different parts of the city, at parks, and avenues.<\/P> Nagua, is a municipality in the provincial capital of Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, with a land area of ??641.5 square kilometers, divided into three municipal districts, thirteen sections and seventy regions, with approximately seventy thousand inhabitants.<\/P> Its diverse cultural traditions remain in effect, such as the patron saint celebrations which have been held since 1935, as well as the Palo festivities and the Carnival, and the drum festivities to the rhythm of prayers and songs in honor of the Virgin of Altagracia.<\/P> In addition to the Minister of Culture, the cabinet is composed by Carlos Salcedo, Director; Carlos Santos, Coordinator of the Vice Ministry of Institutional Development; Architect Nerva Fondeur, Coordinator of the Vice Ministry of Cultural Heritage; Tommy Garc\u00eda, Coordinator of the Vice Ministry of Creativity and Popular Participation.<\/P> Also, Dr. Luis O. During this meeting, representatives from the provinces of Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez, Hermanas Mirabal, Saman\u00e1, and Duarte will have the opportunity to present cultural initiatives, which, if approved, will be financed with MINC funds. MINC has allotted RD$ 10,000,000 for that purpose. <\/P>
