The contents of the tax education program will be introduced in the \u201cEducation, Morals and Civics\u201d class.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The official held a conference in the auditorium of the <EM>Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra<\/EM> (PUCMM) as an orientation on the new tax education program for the executives of the private educational centers. The objective of the program is to have educators instill in students a new culture of good citizenship on tax compliance, as well as their participation and recognition of their rights and duties with society at large.&nbsp; <\/P><br \/>\n<P>With the participation of 80 chancellors from private educational centers, Mont\u00e1s highlighted the importance this program will have for the nation\u2019s future, since students will be taught to be fiscally responsible citizens.&nbsp; First of all, the program entails the training of the teachers on tax issues with special manuals prepared for the \u201cNew Way to Learn How To Participate\u201d program.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cThis is the way to teach students how to comply with their duties and in turn motivate their parents as they see how the DGII efficiently manages their taxcontributions by giving back in the form of education for their children through projects such as this one, and thereby adopting its fiscal responsibility. For this reason among many others, we need to count on the participation of the main stakeholders in the educational process, and we must educate citizens to fully carry out their rights and duties, thereby contributing to the nation\u2019s development,\u201d stated the official.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Sara G\u00fc\u00edlamo and Inmaculada Torres, from the Civics Education Consortium, Claudia de Bogaert, the Vice President of the Association of Private Colleges, and other officials from the DGII, attended the conference.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>A few years ago, the Internal Revenue service and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) signed an agreement to include tax education content in the official education curriculum, under the Morals and Civics class, with the objective of providing adequate citizenship education on tax issuesto future professionals. The <EM>Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra<\/EM> (PUCMM) was asked to collaborate in the professional development of teachers through the Civics Education Consortium.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The \u201cNew Way to Learn How To Participate\u201d program seeks to have teachers instill in students a new culture of good citizenship on tax compliance, as well as their participation and recognition of their rights and duties to become fiscally responsible citizens.
