Recognition for Those Who Helped with Santo Domingo: American Capital of Culture 2010 <\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Ministry of Culture (MINC) held a cocktail party to recognize and thank all those who helped create and develop the extensive programming that went into the celebration of \u201cSanto Domingo: American Capital of Culture 2010 (CAC).\u201d <\/P> \u201cAll that has been done, within a limited budget, was made possible thanks to the efforts of Culture Minister, Jos\u00e9 Rafael Lantigua, who has included all cultural participants from the various sectors of society in this great challenge that was the celebration of the Capital of Culture.\u201d<\/P> The cocktail party took place at the Hotel V Centenario and was presided over by Culture Minister, Jos\u00e9 Rafael Lantigua who was accompanied by Monsignor Agripino N\u00fa\u00f1ez Collado, Rector of the Pontifical Madre y Maestra Catholic University as well as Deputy Ministers of Culture Alexander Santana, Lourdes Camilo de Cuello and Bernarda Jorge.<\/P> In his speech, Monsignor N\u00fa\u00f1ez Collado said: \u201cAll that has been done, within a limited budget, was made possible thanks to the efforts of Culture Minister, Jos\u00e9 Rafael Lantigua, who has included all cultural participants from the various sectors of society in this great challenge that was the celebration of the Capital of Culture.\u201d<\/P> Minister Lantigua stressed that his work team from the Culture Ministry played an essential role in the success of the programs but he added that the passion shown by members of Dominican civil society was key in making this celebration an extraordinary success. <\/P> These words were followed by the presentation of plaques of recognition given by the Minister of Culture, Jos\u00e9 Rafael Lantigua and Monsignor Agripino N\u00fa\u00f1ez Collado.<\/P> The plaques were presented to the following people: Freddy Ginebra, President of the CAC Support Committee; Jos\u00e9 Oviedo, representative of the civil society; Lourdes Camilo de Cuello and Bernarda Jorge, Deputy Ministers of Culture; Carlos Mena, General Operations Coordinator; Ana Tereza G\u00f3mez, Assistant Operations; Rafael Amilkar Medina, Operations Back-up; Rafael N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Administrative Assistant and Alfonso Qui\u00f1ones, Cultural Editor of the Diario Libre newspaper.<\/P> Others who received recognition include: the Walter Palm Foundation, Din\u00e1 Studio, Pablo Ross, Lu\u00eds Emilio Molina, Pinturas Tropical, Tita Hasb\u00fan, Dominican Association of Restaurants (ADERES), Jazz Dominicana, Atajo Magazine, Worldwide Sommelier Association, Traveling Notes, Dominican National Ballet, the Symphonic Foundation, Hotel V Centenario, Vallas Dur\u00e1n, Photo-Images, Embassy of China-Taiwan, O & M University, Urban Equipment (EUDOM), Tourism Cluster of Santo Domingo and the Rodante Theater.<\/P> Special honor was also paid to the following: the National System of Free Schools, the Board of Cultural and Carnival Management, the International Art Festival, choreographer Edmundo Poy, the Alliance Frances, the Embassy of Brazil, the National Gallery of Fine Arts, the Nader Art Gallery, Lu\u00eds Taveras (Town Hall of the National District), Color Vision, the Corripio Communications Group, Marino Ram\u00edrez, Luis Ovalles, Vialx Sound and the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM). Organizations involved in the American Capital of Culture programming oversaw more than 600 cultural events with each one garnering enormous support from the Dominican people thanks to the successful organization that went into the programs. Xavier Tudela, president of the International Bureau of Culture Capitals, told Radio France International that \u201cSanto Domingo 2010 is the most complete and successful American Capital of Culture and gave visitors the opportunity to get to know the Dominican Republic, its attractions and cultural activities much better.\u201d
