Milly Quezada Honored in the United States for Her Brilliant Career<\/STRONG> T<\/SPAN>he Queen of Merengue, Milly Quezada, was honored in the US capital for her musical and cultural achievement and her career as the precursor and best popular musician in the last 30 years. <\/P> \u201cIt is a great honor to receive this recognition and even more so when it is given for promoting one\u2019s own musical roots and culture,\u201d said Ms. Quezada.<\/P> In an event held by the \u201cThe Dominican American National Roundtable\u201d to honor Dominicans living in the Diaspora, Quezada was recognized as a symbol of Dominican culture and promoter of our customs and traditions. <\/P> \u201cIt is a great honor to receive this recognition and even more so when it is given for promoting one\u2019s own musical roots and culture,\u201d said Ms. Quezada.<\/P> This is Quezada\u2019s second award: she was also given a lifetime achievement award in Montreal, upon a recent visit to the Canadian city. <\/P> Dominican Consul in Canada, Raquel Jacobo de Cabral, bestowed the plaque upon Quezada, \u201cfor her contribution to elevating the meringue to an art and making it part of Dominican culture and for being a messenger of joy and hope to Dominicans living abroad.\u201d <\/P> Milly Quezada, whose \u201cS\u00f3lo contigo\u201d (Only with You) is legendary, is preparing for a Christmas tour in Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico and the United States. Also, as part of the evening\u2019s holiday entertainment, the traditional \u201cEarly New Year\u2019s\u201d show with Johnny Ventura will be performed.
