President Meets with Members of the Congressional Black Caucus D<\/SPAN>ominican President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus wherein they exchanged ideas and discussed cooperation between the Dominican Republic and organizations and institutions in Los Angeles.<\/P> The meeting, arranged by Congress woman and activist Diane Watson, touched on the possibility of incorporating agendas of the Dominican Republic and Los Angeles as well as developing commercial projects that will expand links between the DR and Los Angeles. <\/P> <\/P>The meeting, arranged by Congress woman and activist Diane Watson, touched on the possibility of incorporating agendas of the Dominican Republic and Los Angeles as well as developing commercial projects that will expand links between the DR and Los Angeles. <\/P> Other topics discussed included renewable energy, green technology, organic products placement, training and re-training of the labor force in order to increase opportunities to provide jobs to young Dominicans, according to a press release from the President\u2019s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.<\/P> Along these lines, an agreement was reached for an interchange of young Dominicans and young adults from Los Angeles in order to \u201csee both places while learning from experience and developing a multicultural message keeping in mind that these times demand that economies and societies be ever more globalized.\u201d<\/P> They also discussed the possibility of promoting the rebuilding of Haiti through the African American community of Los Angeles and Washington. Personal safety and security and the impact drug trafficking is having on the increasing levels of crime were among the other topics talked about at the meeting.
President Fern\u00e1ndez took the opportunity at the meeting to invite a business delegation from Los Angeles to the Dominican Republic. The visit will be coordinated by the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Assembly member, Steven Bradford.<\/P>
