W<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>ith more than 100 colorful dance troupes, endless imagination and authentic costumes, characters and activities, the Villa Mella 2010 Carnival was celebrated to great success and joy. <\/P> The event was dedicated to cultural folklorist and carnival contributor and worker, Jos\u00e9 Altagracia Puello (Abel). <\/P> The event was dedicated to cultural folklorist and carnival contributor and worker, Jos\u00e9 Altagracia Puello (Abel). <\/SPAN><\/P> The Mayor of Santo Domingo North, Jes\u00fas F\u00e9liz, and Senator Cristina Lizardo presided over the carnival festivities.<\/SPAN><\/P> The parade was led by the King and Queen of Carnival, V\u00edctor Pi\u00f1eiro and Isabel Dom\u00ednguez, both well-known for their work and contributions to the world of culture. The event was attended by thousands of residents of the province of Santo Domingo North. The winning categories for the participating groups included \u201cPopular Creativity.\u201d \u201cFantasy,\u201d \u201cTraditional,\u201d \u201cLimping Devils,\u201d \u201cHistorical,\u201d and \u201cAli Baba.\u201d <\/SPAN><\/P> In the individual categories, the \u201cIndividual Character\u201d and \u201cIndividual Costume\u201d were selected.
