T<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>he First Lady of the Dominican Republic, Margarita Cede\u00f1o de Fern\u00e1ndez, held a meeting last Tuesday with top representatives of the Haitian Government with whom she shared some ideas on defining the project that should be followed to help the Haitian people recover from the devastating January 12th earthquake. <\/P> \u201csolidarity, love for one\u2019s neighbor and a sense of commitment are what define the Dominican people, which is why, together with President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, they offered their help to the Haitian people from the very first moment of the tragedy\u201d <\/P> Mrs. Cede\u00f1o de Fern\u00e1ndez said that \u201csolidarity, love for one\u2019s neighbor and a sense of commitment are what define the Dominican people, which is why, together with President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, they offered their help to the Haitian people from the very first moment of the tragedy,\u201d according to a report from the First Lady\u2019s Office of Communications. The Dominican First Lady said she was sure the Haitians will come through because they are people with good hearts and spirits. \u201cWith all the problems you are undergoing, this is an opportunity to make Haiti a different place, one which you want to lead and for which you entered into the world of politics. What happens today will define the future of this country,\u201d Cede\u00f1o de Fern\u00e1ndez said. Those present at the meeting included Haitian President Ren\u00e9 Preval and First Lady Elisabeth Delatour de Preval; Levaillant Louis-Jeune, president of the Chamber of Commerce; Kelly Bastien, president of the Senate; Haitian Prime Minister, Jean Max Bellerive; Interior Minister, Paul Antoine Bien-Aim\u00e9; Education Minister, Joel Derocier Jean Pierre, members of the President\u2019s private cabinet and other government officials.
