Social Plan Sends First Shipment of Food and Water to Haiti<\/STRONG><\/P> T<\/SPAN>he Social Assistance Plan, in keeping with a resolution from President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, began on Wednesday sending food and water to Haiti. The first shipment consisted of 6,000 rations of raw food (equivalent to 40,480 kilos) and 24 bottles of water and fresh milk. The total investment amounted to $2.3 billion pesos. <\/P> The Social Assistance Plan, in keeping with a resolution from President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez, began on Wednesday sending food and water to Haiti… <\/P> These deliveries are part of the commitment to help, ordered by the President who also sought to send a Dominican Air Force fighter jet with a team of 20 people as well as trained dogs to be used in the search for people trapped beneath the rubble. They are also equipped with tools which can be used in the relief and recovery effort. <\/P> Other donations will be sent through the Presidential Social Plan in the coming hours.
