T<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>he Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdallah Binzayid Al Nahyan, is in the Dominican Republic for several day to begin the construction of a modern natural gas plant in the city of Manzanillo, which will yield an additional 600 new megawatts to the national electric system. <\/P> This Monday, Dominican President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez met with the UAE Foreign Minister for an hour in one of the private rooms on the third floor of the National Palace. <\/P> The International Petroleum Investment Company of Abu Dhabi, working with its subsidiary Mann-Forrestar, will be in charge of the installation of the plant at an initial cost of $800 million dollars, according to the President\u2019s Office of Information, Press and Publicity. This Monday, Dominican President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez met with the UAE Foreign Minister for an hour in one of the private rooms on the third floor of the National Palace. The presence of the official Arab delegation is the result of the visit, eight months ago, made by President Fern\u00e1ndez to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates where he met many government officials as well as business leaders. At that time, Fern\u00e1ndez motivated the Arab businesspeople to invest in the Dominican Republic offering them the security of the national investment laws for foreign investment. Binzayid Al Nahyan said he is pleased with his visit to the DR as well as the conversation he had with President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez. He added that he was impressed with the beauty of the Dominican countryside and the relationship established through the Multimodal Caucedo Company, which has been operating in the DR since 2005. The Foreign Minister announced that he would continue to establish even closer ties with the DR by setting up a diplomatic office where they can develop contacts with the rest of Latin America. Accompanying President Fern\u00e1ndez at the meeting was the Administrative Secretary to the President, Luis Manuel Bonetti; Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso; Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier Garc\u00eda; the Administrator of the Dominican Corporation of State Electrical Companies (CDEEE in Spanish), Celso Marranzini, and the Dominican Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Clara Mart\u00ednez, among others. n the part of the United Arab Emirates, several officials were present including the Minister of External Commerce, H.E. Reem Ebra Him Reda Alhashimy; the President of DP World, H.E.
