Symposium on Tourism Architecture and Urban Landscaping from La Puntilla in Puerto Plata <\/STRONG><\/P>

T<\/SPAN><\/SPAN>he Northern Region fairground of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD in Spanish) will host the \u201cInternational Competition of Urban and Landscape Architecture of La Puntilla,\u201d in Puerto Plata which will be held on October 9-11. <\/P>
\n

\u201cThis will be a unique activity, encouraged by Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garc\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez, which will mark a before and after in terms of tourism planning in the Dominican Republic,\u201d <\/P>
\n

Maribel Villalona, Director of the Department of Planning and Projects (DPP) of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), made the announcement. She said there will be exhibitions of projects as well as panels, debates and masters classes to be given by well-known national and international experts.
\n

Ms. Villalona explained that the projects will be evaluated and awarded by a jury comprised of prestigious professionals in the field, such as Spanish Architect Luis Falc\u00f3n; Emilio Mart\u00ednez, of Puerto Rico; the geographer Rafael Emilio Yun\u00e9n; architect, Carlos Jorge and landscape architect Ros\u00e1ngela Bobea.
\n

In her view, the contest will begin a process of participation, transparency and development around the issue of tourism planning in the Dominican Republic.
\n

She added that participation in the contest will include professionals, students, universities and all those who are interested. She said one of the goals is to stimulate motivate critical thought and generate new ideas in favor of tourism.
\n
