Around 150 national and international institutions based in the Dominican Republic participated in this event.<br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<DIV style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 15px; FONT-SIZE: 16px; FONT-FAMILY: Arial, Helvetica, Georgia; WIDTH: 210px; FLOAT: right; COLOR: #339966; PADDING-BOTTOM: 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: right; MARGIN-LEFT: 10px; MARGIN-TOP: 1px; LINE-HEIGHT: 24px\"><SPAN class=quote style=\"COLOR: blue\">InteRDom is the leading internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic . It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience&#8230; <\/STRONG><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<P>The primary objective of this activity was to build bridges between corporations, universities and students, in an effort to raise awareness amongst society of the important role internships play in the academic development of young people.<br \/>\n<P>\u201cIts part of the corporate sector\u2019s responsibility to serve as a fundamental leader in education, never replacing the university, nor assuming its role, but rather understanding the social and economic benefit of internships,\u201d explained InteRDom Coordinator, Alicia Alonzo.<br \/>\n<P>\u201cInternships are instruments of technological innovation, attracting qualified human resources for businesses, representing a distinct contribution in the formative process of the next generations,\u201d Alonzo contended.<br \/>\n<P>InteRDom\u2019s Annual Review, which takes place annually at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo , is an event that promotes debate concerning trends in management, capacity building and development in the area of human resources.<br \/>\n<P>This conference relied on support from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Associaci\u00f3n de Administradores de Gesti\u00f3n Humana (ADOARH \u2013 Association of Human Resource Administrators), the Dominican Ministry of Labor, and Ponificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).<br \/>\n<P><STRONG>National and International Specialists <\/STRONG><br \/>\n<P>In addition to participation by national specialists, the 2008 edition will featured the participation of international experts: Dr. Lisa Stephenson, Director of Graduate Student Career Development at the Elliot School of International Affairs, George Washington University, and Professor Jorge Ch\u00e1vez of the Instituto de Formaci\u00f3n y Perfeccionamiento del Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENATI \u2013 The National Learning Services\u2019 Institute for Development and Improvement) in Peru.<br \/>\n<P>Speakers discussed the shared interests of universities and corporations. Furthermore, they offered general guidelines for the implementation and improvement of internships with medium and large corporations, based on the experiences of institutions in the United States and South America .<br \/>\n<P>During the event, participating businesses and organizations had the opportunity to affiliate themselves with the InteRDom program (Internships in the Dominican Republic ), and involve local and international interns in their projects.<br \/>\n<P>InteRDom is the leading internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic . It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study, while taking courses and seminars at local universities.<br \/>\n<P>InteRDom students receive certificates and evaluations of their performances from their supervisors.
