The Support Program for Local Initiatives within Civil Society (PRIL) will give economic and technical backing to 175 civil organizations and institutions which carry out community development work. The initiative has 148 million pesos to distribute. The PRIL, launched last week, received funds in donations from the European Union to carry out 27 projects through these 175 organizations and institutions. The resources will finance the institutional development process of civil society, its networks and programs.
The Project was made public by Alicia Escuin Santaolalla, head of the Social Sector in charge of business for the European Commission Delegation, Onofre Rojas, National Organizer for European Development Funds (ONFED), Rosa Garc\u00eda Cubero, Director of PRIL and Marino Tejada, assistant director.
PRIL was established along several lines with the object to benefit organizations working in the areas of health, education, and other sensitive areas. In addition, it works to develop dialogue training as well as in concert with local governments to improve and encourage the participation of handicapped people.
Organizations benefitting from this work are located in Santiago, Salcedo, S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez, Azua, Barahona, Independencia, Bahoruco, Pedernales, Dajab\u00f3n, Montecristi, Puerto Plata, San Crist\u00f3bal, San Juan de la Maguana, Monte Plata, Circunscripci\u00f3n 3 of the National District, Valverde and Santiago Rodr\u00edguez
