The country\u2019s main authorities in the field of education also attended the ceremony.<\/SPAN><\/P><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>Secretary of State for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ligia Amada Melo, welcomed the students who, she explained, were this year\u2019s recipients of international scholarships to study abroad. <\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>Amada Melo said the students were selected because of their high grades and their areas of study, which will benefit the future of the country. She explained that the majority of students chosen have a technology background and are interested in furthering their knowledge in basic areas as well. <\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>Ms. Melo urged the students to use their time well and to return home to their country to share and utilize their knowledge. <\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><SPAN lang=EN-US>High school graduate, Ram\u00f3n Ortiz Hern\u00e1ndez from Monse\u00f1or Nouel province, spoke on behalf of the students, expressing their gratitude. He said the scholarships to study abroad constitute a milestone in their lives.
