




{"id":1928,"date":"2007-12-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-12-20T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dominicana-online.org\/?p=1928"},"modified":"2007-12-20T20:20:13","modified_gmt":"2007-12-20T16:20:13","slug":"noti587","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dominicanaonline.org\/en\/noti587\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorcycles and Vans Given to Officials to Step Up Security in Tourist Areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><BR><br \/>\n<TABLE class=texto width=\"90%\" border=0><br \/>\n<TBODY><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD vAlign=top width=70><IMG class=thinborderfloat1 border=0 alt=Motos src=\"\/Portal\/noticias\/moto_65.jpg\" width=65><\/TD><br \/>\n<TD vAlign=top width=7><BR><\/TD><br \/>\n<TD class=texto vAlign=top><STRONG>Motorcycles and Vans Given to Officials to Step Up Security in Tourist Areas<\/STRONG><BR><BR>The Secretary of State for Tourism (Sectur) and various hotel companies have given 36 motorcycles and four vans to the National Police and to the Tourism Police with the objective of beefing up protection in the country\u2019s tourism areas. <BR><BR>Twenty four of the motorcycles and two of the vans were given to the National Police while the remaining 12 motorcycles and the other two vans will be used by the Tourism Police (Politur), according to a press release from the Press and Communications Office of the Sector. <BR><BR>The donation was received by the chief of police, Major General Rafael Guillermo Guzm\u00e1n Ferm\u00edn and by the Director of Politur, Police Colonel Manuel G. Rodr\u00edguez Miranda, from the Deputy Secretary of Tourism for International Affairs, Luis Sim\u00f3 who was representing the Secretary of Tourism F\u00e9lix Jim\u00e9nez. Representing the private, the donation was handed over to the officials from Juan Bancalari.<BR><BR>Sim\u00f3 explained that the motorcycles are Yamaha Grasshoppers and were donated by Sectur while the Nissan dual cabin vans were given by Cap Cana, Metro Group and Rinc\u00f3n Bay companies. <BR><BR>He indicated that the total amount of the vehicles\u2019 worth was $130,000, which equivalent to 4.29 million Dominican pesos. He added that this donation fulfills a request of the National Police for equipment to reinforce security in the touristic areas of the country. <BR><BR>Security in the most important hotel areas to be reinforced by the PN and Politur are the Colonial Zone, Punta Cana, Macao, B\u00e1varo, La Romana, Bayah\u00edbe, Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, Guayacanes, Puerto Plata, Sos\u00faa, Cabarete, R\u00edo San Juan, Gaspar Hern\u00e1ndez, Cabrera, Saman\u00e1, Las Terrenas, Jarabacoa, Constanza, Montecristi, Las Salinas de Ban\u00ed, Barahona and Enriquillo.<BR><BR>The handing over of the vehicles took place in the parking lot of the Tourism Office in the presence of officials from Sectur, Politir and the PN. <BR><BR><IMG class=thinborderfloat1 border=0 alt=Motos src=\"\/Portal\/noticias\/moto_500.jpg\" width=500><BR>Juan Bancalari, representing the private sector, gives the vans to the Chief of the Police.
