A Special Hug for Sponsored Boys and Girls \u2013 Children International <\/P>
\n
More than 20,000 plastic seats were given to sponsored families from Mendoza, Mandinga, Los Tres Brazos, Boca Chica, La Caleta, Valiente, Campo Lindo, Las Ca\u00f1itas, Villa Mar\u00eda, Villas Agr\u00edcolas and Bayaguana by the Santo Domingo-based Children International.<\/P>
\n
The gift is part of the activities being carried out by this organization each year and is called \u201cThe Special Hug Gift.\u201d <\/P>
\n
The activity consists of direct donations to nearly 15,000 boys and girls sponsored in Santo Domingo by North Americans through Children International \u2013 Friends of the Children, Inc. <\/P>
\n
Over the course of a year, each boy and girl will receive a series of special gifts that will contribute to their personal and family development.
In 2007, backpacks, towels, tooth paste and brushes were given to the families in addition to countless other gifts ranging from donations to improve their homes such as the construction of toilets to educational scholarships and medical and dental checkups with the goal of assuring that the children grow up to be healthy, educated and self sufficient adults. <\/P>
\n
Currently, Children International is carrying out special follow-up of vulnerable sections of society especially after the damage wreaked by hurricane Noel on the Dominican Republic. <\/P>
\n
Each sponsor, in Kansas City where Children International is headquartered, is paying special attention to assure that their \u201csponsored child\u201d receives the necessary attention in the face of this national catastrophe.<\/P>
\n
Children International is a humanitarian organization that functions worldwide with supporting agencies in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, The Philippines, Zambia, The United States and the Dominican Republic.<\/P>
