The Union of Dominican Photojournalists (UFD) is presenting its first Expo-Projection of Press Photographs to mark the international month of photography.<\/STRONG><\/P>
\n

This First Expo-Projection of Press Photographs is comprised of 534 photos taken by 17 photographers.  This exhibition will show fragments of the truth of which we are daily witnesses, including armed conflict that alters our present and future, the suffering of children, the joy and color of carnival, daily life situations, etc.<\/STRONG><\/P>
\n

The work of these 17 photographers, whose presentation will last nearly one hour, will be shown on giant screens in the following places and times: <\/STRONG><\/P>

  • The Theater House on September 17th (by invitation only),19th and 26th at 7:30 PM
    \n
  • UASD- Pedro Mir Library on September 20th at 7:00 PM
    \n
  • Museum of Modern Art on September 21st at 9:30  PM
    \n
  • Funglode Auditorium on September 25th at 7:00 PM <\/LI><\/UL>

    It should be mentioned that the activity at the Museum of Modern Art, located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Cultural Plaza, will take place on the esplanade of the cultural center on two large screens.  The projections will follow a concert to be given by Pavel Nu\u00f1ez, as part of the Visual Arts Biennial.
    In this first exhibition we have included a reportage by the well-known Argentine photographer Walter Astrada, who won first place in this year\u2019s World Press Photo competition in the category of Contemporary Themes. World Press Photo is one of the most prestigious photo contests in the world. Mr. Astrada won for his work about Violence Against Women in Guatemala, a candid reportage that reveals, in images, the horrors of homicide against women in this Central American country.  Another photo reportage of historical interest was done by Orlando Barr\u00eda of the Spanish Press Agency about the various processes taking place as part of the convulsive reality of our neighboring country Haiti. This exhibition is called \u201cHaiti, a Brief History.\u201d<\/P>
