Babel, con siete nominaciones, encabeza una lista en la que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n El laberinto del fauno, Volver, El \u00faltimo rey de Escocia, Una verdad inc\u00f3moda y Agua <\/EM><\/P><\/TD><\/TR>
\n

(Santo Domingo, 23 de enero de 2007)<\/STRONG> Seis pel\u00edculas que fueron estrenadas en la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana durante la primera edici\u00f3n del Festival de Cine Global Dominicano<\/A>, celebrado del 8 al 12 de noviembre del pasado a\u00f1o y organizado por FUNGLODE y su instituci\u00f3n hermana en Estados Unidos, la Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), acaparan las nominaciones a los Oscar de la Academia. <\/SPAN>
\n

Babel<\/EM>, de Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez-I\u00f1arritu, es la pel\u00edcula que opta a la mayor cantidad de estatuillas, siete, entre ellas a la de mejor film, mejor director y mejor actriz de reparto.
\n

El laberinto del fauno<\/EM>, cuyo director de fotograf\u00eda, Guillermo Navarro, estuvo en Santo Domingo durante el festival, ha obtenido seis nominaciones. El film mexicano-espa\u00f1ol dirigido por Guillermo Del Toro optar\u00e1 al Oscar a la mejor pel\u00edcula en lengua extranjera, mejor gui\u00f3n original y mejor fotograf\u00eda, entre otros.<\/P>
\n

La actriz espa\u00f1ola Pen\u00e9lope Cruz ha dado la sorpresa al ser nominada para mejor actriz protagonista por su papel en Volver<\/EM>, una cinta de Pedro Almod\u00f3var que ha quedado fuera de las candidatas a mejor pel\u00edcula en lengua extranjera. En el cap\u00edtulo masculino, Forest Whitaker ha obtenido la nominaci\u00f3n por su actuaci\u00f3n en El \u00faltimo rey de Escocia<\/EM>.<\/SPAN><\/P>

Otras obras que optan a las estatuillas m\u00e1s populares del mundo cinematogr\u00e1fico son el documental Una verdad inc\u00f3moda <\/EM>y la pel\u00edcula Agua<\/EM>.
