Minister of Culture Eduardo Selman will head the Fair\u2019s opening ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, in the country\u2019s central region town of Cotu\u00ed.<\/p>\n
Santo Domingo, October 25, 2018 – The Fair\u2019s artistic program is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture to celebrate the 14th Regional Book Fair Cotu\u00ed 2018. At the end of each day, the Fair will close with a cultural presentation at the city\u2019s \u201cParque Duarte,\u201d the town\u2019s main plaza.<\/p>\n
The book fair will open on Tuesday, March 30, and will run until November 5. The fair theme is \u201cReading is like Running Water.\u201d <\/p>\n
The first artistic event will take place in Duarte Park, featuring the \u201cOrquesta Dorada.\u201d The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m., following the opening ceremony headed by Minister of Culture Eduardo Selman.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, October 31, cultural presentations from nearby Duarte and Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez provinces will also take place beginning at 7:00 p.m. Musical groups from the region, headed by Adolfo Diaz, Aris Juan and Luis Salazat, to name but a few, will open the way for a fun-filled musical event.<\/p>\n
On the third day of the fair, November 1, will be dedicated to Espaillat, Dajab\u00f3n and Santiago Rodriguez provinces \u2013 from the country\u2019s central and northwest border regions. The musical concert is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., and will include the participation of a poetry group from the nearby town of Gaspar Hern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n
The northwest province of Dajab\u00f3n will participate in the cultural event with a concert titled \u201cOh Dajab\u00f3n!\u201d, featuring pianist Tem\u00edstocles Santos. Other participants will include the folklore group headed by Popeye Lora; Kelvin Lombert and his bachata group, and Elmo Javier Monci\u00f3n. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
The northwest province of Santiago Rodr\u00edguez will also be represented with the San Ignacio de Sabaneta musical group, as well as a group of typical musicians known as the Atabales del Esp\u00edritu Santo. Espaillat province will close the evening with a performance by the dance group Yesua.<\/p>\n
On Friday, November 2, the cultural presentation will be headed by the provinces of Santiago and Valverde. Musicians from the provinces, specifically Geraldo Marte and Wilson Cachimbo will offer the public their typical musical style. Santiago\u2019s Folkloric Dance Troup and the Arcos Juveniles Orchestra, directed by Frank Hern\u00e1ndez, will feature their particular brand of musical culture. <\/p>\n
On Saturday, November 3, Festival organizers will set up food stands, organize conferences and recitals. Also on Saturday, the centrally located province of La Vega and the north coast province of Puerto Plata will also bring their best cultural representatives to the fair. <\/p>\n
Puerto Plata\u2019s cultural presentation \u2013 titled \u201cPuerto Plata: Door to Latin American Culture\u201d \u2013 will feature musicians and dancers. La Vega will participate with its municipal band. <\/p>\n
On Sunday, November 4, the fair will be dedicated to the provinces of Monse\u00f1or Nouel, Montecristi and Saman\u00e1. Organizers revealed that the closing ceremony will be impressive, with dancers, musicians and musical bands participating on stage.<\/p>\n
On Monday, November 5, all activities will be dedicated to the provinces of S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez and Hermanas Mirabal, with the presentation of dance troups and Basilio Martinez\u2019 musical band.<\/p>\n
