Commissioner Carlos S\u00e1nchez announced that this year\u2019s literary contest will receive entries for the following literary genres: Poetry, Short Stories and Novel. The first prize winners in each category will receive a US$5,000 award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe entries may be sent by <strong>email<\/strong>, as long as the entries comply with the contest rules,\u201d explained Commissioner S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n<p>The works of the winners will be published by <em>Editora Nacional<\/em> for its Overseas Collection, and formally presented during the\u00a0XXII\u00a0Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2019.\u00a0 The writers will be received during the event as Guests of Honor of the Fair.<\/p>\n<p>This contest will officially open beginning on the date the contest rules are published and will end on October 30, 2018, at midnight.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the Overseas Literary Contest is to encourage, recognize and promote the literary creation of Dominican writers who, for various reasons, are living outside the Dominican Republic. \u00a0The contest first began in 2005 in the Poetry category.\u00a0 The winning entry at the time was <em>Saint Domingue,<\/em> <em>2044,<\/em> written by Dominican poet Osiris Vallejo.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, the contest included Short Stories, and the winning entry was <em>Reminiscencias,<\/em> written by Keiselim A. Mont\u00e1s. \u00a0In 2007, Dinorah Coronado took the first place award with her novel <em>A la sombra del flamboy\u00e1n<\/em>. \u00a0In the Essay category, in 2008, Antonio A.
