\u00a0<\/strong>Santo Domingo, May 25, 2018 \u2013 <\/strong>They say it is difficult for a second edition to top the original, and even stranger that the third attempt surpasses the first two.\u00a0 However, musician Pengbian Sang and his Retro Jazz group proved that this formula is not always fool proof.\u00a0 On Saturday, May 19, a lively and overflowing crowd attended the Retro Jazz group\u2019s concert at the Spanish Plaza, in Santo Domingo\u2019s Colonial Zone where they confirmed\u00a0 with their applause and enthusiasm that the group\u2019s new production was much more than expected.<\/p>\n

The enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the official launching of \u201cJazzeando,\u201d Volume 3, produced<\/p>\n

Right from the very start, the crowd connected with the group which opened with the popular Dominican song \u00a8Andresito Reyna.\u00a8\u00a0 It continued with an additional 16 songs from Pengbian Sang\u2019s latest production, as well as a selection of past hits.\u00a0 Special videos were presented featuring the testimonies of the performing musicians, which immediately engaged the audience. Group members Pengbian Sang,\u00a0 Nairoby Duarte, \u00c1lvaro Dinzey, Federico M\u00e9ndez, Jes\u00fas \u00a8Gury\u00a8 Abreu, Guy Fr\u00f3meta and Edgar Molina were on stage to give the audience their all.<\/p>\n

The music-loving audience overflowed the entire Plaza, giving the members of the Retro Jazz group tremendous support after concluding each song.<\/p>\n

One of the concert\u2019s most exciting moments was when the group played \u201cAtada a tu Volc\u00e1n\u00a8 (unofficial translation: Tied to Your Volcano). \u00a0Also, during the concert Pengbian invited on stage Dominican trumpet players Pedro Liberato and Raldy Ram\u00edrez, trombonists Carlos Torres and Silvio Trinidad and\u00a0 sax players Nayad\u00e9 Macea and Junior S\u00e1nchez.\u00a0 With the participation of these top musicians, the Retro Jazz became a Big Band concert. A truly unique performance enjoyed by all.<\/p>\n

Pengbian Sang & Retro Jazz \u2013 \u201cJazzeando el Cancionero Dominicano, Vol. 3\u201d<\/strong> \u2013<\/p>\n

This latest production features original arrangements made by Pengbian Sang and Retro Jazz.\u00a0 Manuel Tejada, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez, Juan Luis Guerra, Billo Fr\u00f3meta, Julio Alberto Hern\u00e1ndez, Lu\u00eds Dias, Frank Ceara, An\u00edbal de Pe\u00f1a \u2026are some of the top Dominican singers and composers that this production honors by giving a whole new dimension to their songs. In this particular production, songs that were originally written in various rhythms (Merengues, Bachatas, the\u00a0 Cuban Son, and ballads) take on a whole new dimension by the talent of all these Dominican jazz artists.<\/p>\n
