Santiago de Los Caballeros, August 11 2015

Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN), in the framework of the initiative “Orgullo de mi tierra,” introduced the mobile application Orgullo de mi tierra, available for iPhone and Android, which will help to guide visitors through the various attractions available in the province of Puerto Plata and its 9 municipalities: San Felipe de Puerto Plata, Sosúa, Altamira, Imbert, Villa Isabela, Luperón, Los Hidalgos, Villa Montellano and Guananico.

This application was designed with the objective of guiding visitors of “The Bride of the Atlantic” to discover, in a more dynamic and interactive way, every corner of the province. It also provides a list of lodging facilities, restaurants and tourist attractions that characterize this tourist destination as one of the best in the country.

“This is a travel application, tailored to tour the province with just one click. After it has been downloaded, users have the advantage of being able to operate it without being connected to the Internet,” said Natacha Quiterio, CCN Senior Manager of Corporate Marketing and Financial Retail.

“Thinking about the technology-loving tourists, the application was designed to allow visitors, both domestic and foreign, to consult, through their cell phones, all the historical and cultural sites that the Bride of the Atlantic has to offer. This is the first province, but our goal is to continue developing the contents of the other provinces with which we have worked through Orgullo de mi Tierra: Samaná, Barahona, Pedernales and La Vega,” stressed Quiterio.

Once the application has been downloaded, in the main screen, tourists will find four main sections: Map, Categories, Searches and Destinations.

The application is fairly comprehensive: it contains pictures; it is divided in categories of places of interest, restaurants, lodging, entertainment and cravings. It also includes access to GPS and its own location in relation to the destination sites.

The map includes filters to only show places in the selected category. For example: only restaurants or lodging facilities.

Each location in the map, when selected, displays a bubble with a picture and contact name and telephone number.

And, so that visitors are able to share every moment of their visit with their friends, the application is integrated with social networks.

A Tour with the Application

The application offers everything about the destination that can be visited in Puerto Plata and its municipalities: main roads, airports, lodging, restaurants, places for entertainment, national parks, shops and markets.

With this new application, tourists can start their tour around beautiful and historical places, such as: Saltos de la Damajagua Natural Monument, a space for hiking, which has been protected since 2004. Its territorial extension is 6 km2.

Tourists can also visit the Tubagua Plantation Eco Village, a place dedicated to eco-tourism and tourists who show solidarity geared toward sustainable development and its practices. This classic place is made up of 9 simple and comfortable rooms, common recreational areas, and an open kitchen, where visitors will find products provided by the environment.

Going toward Cabarete one can reach the Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & Spa, an ecological, sensitive hotel, whose cabins have been built with rustic elements and use elements of Feng Shui. It also has a temple to practice yoga and to foster growth and spiritual disconnection.

And to eat, what better place than the Skina Bar & Restaurant? It offers a forest environment in the heart of the city. Its specialty is local Dominican food, and it is 100% focused on its rescue. Among its specific activities, it offers jazz concerts twice a month.

Casa Museo General Gregorio Luperón, is a cultural, historical and tourist attraction. It has a replica of the equestrian statue that is located in the Puntilla del Malecón of Puerto Plata in honor of the Hero. It is decorated with portraits of the streets, personalities and main buildings of the 1800s and it exhibits relics of the main figure who resisted the annexation to Spain. Its story is projected on digital screens.

Teleférico of Puerto Plata, this icon is located in the “Isabel de Torres” hill, south of the beautiful city of Puerto Plata. At the top of the mountain, above a fortress, is the statue of “Christ the Redeemer,” which welcomes visitors with open arms. The “Isabel de Torres” hill has been declared Scientific Reserve due to the variety of animal and plant species that are found in it. And if visitors keep their eyes wide open, they can discover hidden caves that lead to springs and streams that flow inside the mountain.

The goal of this application is to be the best travel tool when it comes to domestic tourism, which is the reason why Centro Cuesta Nacional invites those interested to discover the wonders of the country by downloading this handy application.
