Santo Domingo, 27 de Abril de 2015

The Dominican Consortium for Tourism Competitiveness (CDCT for its acronym in Spanish), with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism, will hold the third edition of the Alternative and Sustainable Tourism Fair, Aventúrate 2015. The main objective of Aventúrate is to provide a space for the Dominican tourism SMEs to showcase their offering to the local public, thus promoting domestic and alternative tourism.

Aventúrate 2015 will take place on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 at the Botanical Garden from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The tourism clusters from all over the country and more than 50 small and medium enterprises of the tourism destinations will participate in this promotional platform. Among the participants will be community eco-lodges, eco-boutique hotels, adventure, nature and culture tours, crafts, cuisine, and handicraft products, among others, all showcasing their sustainable tourism offerings that enrich the national tourism offering.

Dominican Treasures will also be present, showcasing products and services that promote the conservation of Dominican biodiversity, the adoption of quality standards, good environmental practices, support for local handicrafts, and community integration as a cornerstone of economic and social development. These unique projects draw their distinction by maintaining standards of quality and sustainability, based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

For over ten years, the CDCT and the tourism clusters have worked on the development of a tourism model that incorporates the value chain to small and medium entrepreneurs, with tourism products and services that complement the tourist offering and that are capable of attracting a very promising market for tourism development in the country. We are committed to the democratization of resources through the generation of employment, the conservation of natural resources, the appreciation of the Dominican culture, and the strengthening of local capacities.

Attendees will have a particular experience, in addition to traveling to the various tourism destinations in the country: they will be in contact with the originality, what is native to the country, the charms of this land, the kindness of our people, and will learn about the value of our natural and cultural resources.

In addition to the exhibition of the products of each destination, the event will feature an agenda of activities that includes discussions, workshops, sale of handicrafts, and food tastings, children’s events, performances, and other surprises.

Aventúrate 2015 is a space dedicated to the entire Dominican family, where they will be able to enjoy it free of charge, and will have an opportunity to discover the various corners of their country.
