Psychotherapist and teacher, Martha Beato, published a collection of 150 different answers to letters she received from readers of the Listín Diario in the Dominican Republic and the El Universo newspaper of Ecuador, which are all encompassed in her book.

The book “Querida Martha” is, therefore, a guideline for people who cannot or are afraid of seeing a psychologist. The audience can easily relate to the various situations presented in the book, and the recommendations that are offered there can easily serve not only the person who initially wrote the letter, but anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation. The book seeks to offer realistic solutions to the pursuit for wellbeing.

Through the weekly “Columna de la psicóloga(The Psychologist’s Column)”Martha Beato responded to the questions of her readers concerning topics such as family, work, couples relationships, and emotional difficulties, which she now has published in an exquisite book titled “Querida Martha (Dear Martha).” The book is to be released on Friday, August 8th, in the auditorium of the Juan Bosch National Library.

The psychologist and teacher titled her book with the greeting that her readers began their letters to the columnist. This heartfelt book stemmed from her five-year experience of constant interactions with an audience that was avid for advice, and from having a friendly voice that was expressed through, in this case, a guiding pen.

The key to being so accurate in her responses lied in the fact that “the answer is within you,” commented Martha Beato. “You have to be proactive and make things happen. Nobody can create a change in someone if they do not want it. And my responses simply offered guidelines for finding solutions, and encouraging everyone to take the reins of their lives, since there lays their courage.”
