Genética, by Omar Molina arrives at Museo de las Casas Reales

The Ministry of Culture will open a solo exhibition titled “Genética” (Genetics), by plastic artist Omar Molina, in the temporary exhibition hall of the Museo de las Casas Reales, on August 1st at 7:00 pm

He explained that “in the entire production being showcased we can perceive a sort of evolution of his work. It can be said that there are even breaks, the positioning of a new Omar Molina who has decided that his life will be forever that, art. And that means, to find any artist,we only need to look at his work carefully enough and he will be there.”

The exhibit consists of 23 art works produced usinga variety of techniques and in various formats, which include drawing and painting.

For writer Fernando Casanova, Molina has his own personality and this is reflected especially in his drawings on paper, an importantcreative workamong the great production of Dominican artists of recent generations.

Omar Molina was born on August 12 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Since childhood he showed an inclination for art, which later led him to study advertising and graphic design at APEC.

His first solo exhibition took place in 2001 at Casa de Culturaof Puerto Plata. It was titled “ExpresionesSensoriales” (Sensory Expressions). He has participated in various group exhibits, including the Outdoor ArtFair organized by MUDIC; in the exhibit celebrating the 464th Anniversary of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD); and, at the XXII Biennial of Visual Arts in the Museum of Modern Art.

He has also participated in the Small Formats Exhibition in the ARAWAK Gallery and BoddenBuen Arte; in the group exhibition “JóvenesArtistas-Dos Generaciones” (Young Artists-Two Generations) at the Mesa Fine Art Gallery. In 2006, he presentedhis solo exhibition “Descriptivo” (Descriptive) at Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE). In 2007, he participated in thecompetition XI International Award for Painting “MiquelViladrich” at theAJUNTAMENT DE TORRELAMEU, Spain.

Genética is open to the general public at Museo de las Casa Reales, from August 1stto August 15th, 2014, from 9:00 am to 5: 00 pm.
