Casa de España organized a tasting dinner to present to the media the new menu of the Sancho restaurant. The objective of the event is to continue offering a select gastronomy characterized by the Spanish seal. Gilda or selected anchovies in olive oil and in vinegar, glazed onion with Cabrales cheese sandwiches, and homemade Noreña sausage and manchego cheese croquette duo, are now part of the restaurant appetizers and were among the tasting options at the “Sabor Español” (Spanish Flavor) activity.


As a sample of the menu, guests also enjoyed sautéed baby fava beans with sherry Serrano ham and quail egg, imported octopus with garlic mushrooms, imported cod loin on a bed of vegetables, and very tasty Iberian pork cheeks in red wine, potato mousse and mushroom oil. For dessert, a delicious Jijona nougat covered in chocolate and berries sauce.


Francisco Fernández, Executive Chef of the club, presented the new menu describing it as a carefully selected set of dishes to offer an exclusive and rich selection of Spanish gastronomy products. In addition to those presented in this tasting dinner we can mention grouper bonbons filled with garlic gulas with shrimp in Aurora pistachio sauce, Castilian style roasted lamb, Iberian pork, glazed onions and “papas a lo pobre” (where the potato is served with peppers and eggs and virgin olive oil), shrimp and calamari black fideua and glazed sweet peppers.


The welcoming speech was given by Mr. Juan Antonio García, current President of Casa de España, who took the opportunity to thank the journalists for the support they have always given to the club and to announce the upcoming opening of the new facilities in the pool area, a large project that will delight visitors.

Since its inception on July 1st, 1917, Casa de España is a club whose main objective is to disseminate the Spanish spirit and to welcome Spaniards and their descendants, as well as Dominicans who identify with the Spanish culture. Casa de España has a health trail. It is a 1 kilometer trail that runs around the perimeter of the club. Young and old alike use it for jogging and walking in a safe environment. In addition, it offers a modern fitness center with weights, cardio, and aerobics. It also has a playroom for children, a pilgrimage area, and a playground.
