The Ministry of Culture, through the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library, paid homage posthumously to Dominican writer, journalist and poet, Héctor Incháustegui Cabral, on the 101st anniversary of his birth.

Amalia Incháustegui recited the poem “Canto Triste a la Patria Bien Amada,” and playwright Iván García Guerra recited excerpts from the poem “Un canto a diario de la guerra,” whose author was the journalist, writer and poet from Baní.

This activity is part of an extensive program that the BNPHU is carrying out to commemorate the literary anniversaries, the director of the National Library, Diómedes Núñez Polanco, explained while greeting the invited guests.

Incháustegui Cabral, who was born on July 25, 1912, is considered one of the leading figures of the Dominican cultural landscape. He published his literary work in the newspapers La Nación and Listín Diario, and was the director of La Opinión. As a writer, he left a voluminous poetic production whose content has a social and political orientation.
