Police Chief, Major General Manuel Castro Castillo received the Chief of Mission of the International Human Rights Organization, Canadian Human Rights, Félix Tena, in his office recently.


Félix Tena wished Police Chief Castro Castillo total success in his job and took the opportunity to tell him some of the concerns his organization has with respect to the application of the public safely plan that guarantees peace and security for Dominicans.

He said the plan should be carried out with vigorous controls against crime but without committing excesses.


Police Chief Castro Castillo said that under his watch, there is a commitment to behaving strictly within the law and that the Police under his charge will become the main guarantors of citizens’ rights. He added that anyone who violates these norms will face sanctions.


Major General Manuel Castro Castillo, in turn,congratulated Félix Tenafor this appointment and praised the fact that a friend and former schoolmate is at the head of this prestigious human rights organization.


During their meeting, Tena and Castro Castillo recalled the days when they were students together in the Liceo Unión Panamericana where they were classmates.


Mr. Félix Tenawas recently appointed as Chief of Mission in the Dominican Republic of the Human Rights Organization based in Canada. He immediately undertook a series of projects in which he aims to, with the collaboration of public and private businesses, supply the basic needs to poor communities throughout the country.
