The Ministry of Culture, in coordination with the Narciso González Cultural Center and the Ministry of Education, organized an interesting roundtable discussion entitled “Art, Culture and Youth Participation”, within the framework of the program about the Family Month and the International Day of Non-Violence Against Women.


In their presentations they agreed to launch the planned program of activities that is being disseminated in the agencies they lead, with a view to exposing the youth of Villa Juana to education, leisure and cultural and artistic topics.


Among the speakers were Luis De León, Deputy Minister of Education, Ángel Mejía, National Director of the Free School System; Ninoska Velazquez, Director of the National School of Dance; Jacqueline Huguet, Director of the Elila MenaElementary School of Music; and Rhadamés Polanco, Director of the National School of Theatre.


In their presentations they agreed to launch the planned program of activities that is being disseminated in the agencies they lead, with a view to exposing the youth of Villa Juana to education, leisure and cultural and artistic topics.


Luis A. de los Santos, Director of the Narciso GonzálezCultural Center, led the event. Hestressed the interest of the Ministry toinclude the inhabitants of the area in the cultural events that take place at the center.


Deputy Minister of Education, Luis De León spoke of the challenge parents in the community of Villa Juana face to provide protection to their children and to encouragethem to participate in the cultural programs.


During the ceremony, the audience enjoyed the staging of the one-person play based on the novel “El Masacre se pasa a pies,” by Pamela Hernández, a student at the National Theatre School of Fine Arts.


In addition, seventeen students who participated in the workshop “Dilatación del cuerpo”, which the management of the center organized, received certificates of participation.


The event ended with a moment of excitement due to theconcert offered by the Symphony Orchestra of the Elila MenaElementary School of Music, conducted by Maestro Guillermo Mota.

The roundtable discussion was aimed at the community and the community leaders, as well as at the general public of the populous neighborhood of Villa Juana and surrounding areas.
