Statistics Office Reaches Cooperation Agreement with INDEC of Argentina and INEGI of Mexico

The National Office of Statistics (ONE in Spanish) of the Dominican Republic signed a cooperation agreement with Argentina’s National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC in Spanish) and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI). The agreement seeks the exchange of statistical information and demographic norms and methodologies, materials, publications of various statistical systems and scientific content.


The agreement will allow these Statistics organizations to establish collaboration and exchange programs in a base of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit.


The agreements were signed by representatives of each of the involved institutions who participated in the V Statistics Conference of the Americas held in Bogota, Colombia. Signing for the Dominican Republic was the ONE’s Director, Pablo Tactuk; Ana Maria Edwin signed for INDEC of Argentina and Eduardo Sojo Garza Aldape for Mexico’s INEGI.

The agreement will allow these Statistics organizations to establish collaboration and exchange programs in a base of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit.

The areas of cooperation and exchange to be covered under these accords include: organization of statistical work, methodology of census and surveys, report systems for collecting economic, social and demographic information; automated technology applied to the processing and analysis of data; compilation of statistics and publication.

Training is also being contemplated for personnel in the areas of statistics, data collection, processing and analysis, statistical evaluation techniques and other areas of cooperation and exchange in keeping with the mutual agreements so long as they do not influence the job security of the work forces of the DR’s ONE, Argentina’s INDEC and INEGI of Mexico.

In addition, the agreement between these institutions commits them to jointly organize seminars, conferences, speeches and training courses as well as to exchange ideas on research and the results and experience of their statistical data.
