United States Praises Puerto Plata

US Consul General visits Deputy Minister César José De Los Santos, underscores tourism potential of North Coast .

The Consul General of the United States in the Dominican Republic stressed the economic and tourism potential in this tourism area as well praising the high levels of security in the areas of Sosúa, Cabarete, Playa Dorada, Cofresí, Maimón and Luperón.

Michael Schimmel said that the dynamism of work among the Tourism Ministry personnel in this city as well as the private sector constitutes an important factor for the strengthening of Puerto Plata as a destination.

In a meeting with the Deputy Tourism Minister of the Northern Region, César José de los Santos, Mr. Schimmel also highlighted the positive attitude of the governor, Eridania Llibre and the hard work being done by General Eduardo Alberto Then.

Upon listening to a series of explanations and information about the projects Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García is contemplating for the Northern Coast, Schimmel praised the tourism and economic potential of Puerto Plata and its surrounding villages.

At the same time, Mr. Schimmel also took an interest in the touristic port town and the area’s commercial potential based on its geographic position.
