Dominican Carnival Goes to Hollywood

Celeste Jiménez, the Dominican Consul in California, has begun preparations to hold the First Dominican Carnival in Hollywood. The idea is to promote Dominican cultural values and to promote the DR as a tourism and investment destination.

Ms. Jiménez said that Hollywood is one of the most sought after venues in the world. Nevertheless, the Dominican Carnival, as a cultural stamp of the DR, is sufficiently organized to debut in any milieu in California.

She explained that the initiative seeks to avert deterioration of the Dominican economy as a result of the world financial crisis that is currently affecting many countries. This is a situation that must be confronted with coherent and practical solutions to avoid a possible reduction in local tourism activities.
