Requirements for the issuing of passports

ADULTS

First application:

  • Original birth certificate certified and recently notarized (New Format 2004).

  • Original Identity and Electoral Registration Document and (1) photocopy.

  • 3 photos 2x2. White background, front profile (without headwear).

  • Receipt for payment of tax to the Federal Bank and (1) photocopy.

Note. If you wish to register your civil status as married, divorced or widowed you must present the Marriage, Divorce or Death certificate, according to the particular case, recently notarized.
Normal Cost. RD$1,500.00 (DELIVERY WITHIN SIX WORKING DAYS)
VIP Cost. RD$2,500.00 (SAME DAY DELIVERY)

Renewal:

  • Original birth certificate certified and recently notarized (New Format 2004).

Expedition for the first time to naturalized citizens:
If you are a foreigner and have become a naturalized citizen of the Dominican Republic, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Certificate of Naturalization from the Interior Ministry and Police in a stamped and sealed envelope

  • Copy of the pages from the Official Register and Decree where the naturalization of the applicant is stated.

  • Extract from the transcription into Spanish of the original Birth Certificate, recently certified and notarized.

  • Original Identity and Electoral registration Document and (1) photocopy.

  • 3 photos 2x2. White background, front profile (without headwear).

  • Receipt for payment of tax to the Federal Bank and (1) photocopy.

  • Passport from the country of origin and (1) photocopy.

Note. If the naturalization occurs through marriage, please bring the recently notarized Marriage Certificate.

Renewals for naturalized citizens:

  • Copy of the certification of Naturalization from the Home Office and Police, Decree or Register

  • From the age of (10) ten, the minor’s fingerprints and signature are taken.

Note. If the parents are abroad, they should go to the Dominican embassy in the country where they are residing and should ask for power to be granted to the guardian or legal representative for the issue and withdrawal of a passport for a minor or minors who are resident in the Dominican Republic, and which must be legalized in the Ministry.
*If the parents are resident in the Dominican Republic, and for some reason cannot accompany their child, send a guardian or legal representative with the power to act as notary granted by the Attorney General’s office of the Dominican Republic, authorizing the issue of withdrawal of the passport(s) of minor(s).
*To obtain a child passport for a child of two minor children, one of the grandparents must assume the responsibility for the minor child in front of a Public Notary, legalized by the Attorney General’s office in the Dominican Republic, authorizing the issue or withdrawal of the child’s or children’s passport(s).
*The minor child must be present.

  • Photocopy of the damaged passport (where the photo is).

  • Photocopy of the visa, if current.

  • Minors must apply with one of the parent, guardian or legal representative

  • From the age of (10) ten, the minor’s fingerprints and signature are taken.

Note. If the parents are abroad, they should go to the Dominican embassy in the country where they are residing and should ask for power to be granted to the guardian or legal representative for the issue and withdrawal of a passport for a minor or minors who are resident in the Dominican Republic, and which must be legalized in the Ministry.

  • Copies of the pages from the Official Register where the naturalization of the applicant is recorded.

  • Letter for the Minor, which is granted by the General Passport Office (cost already included).

  • From the age of (10) ten, the minor’s fingerprints and signature are taken.

Note. If the parents are abroad, they should go to the Dominican embassy in the country where they are residing and should ask for power to be granted to the guardian or legal representative for the issue and withdrawal of a passport for a minor or minors who are resident in the Dominican Republic, and which must be legalized in the Ministry.
