Institutional Actions

Institutional actions to confront violence against women:

• Programs of the Secretariat of the State of Women for preventing and confronting intrafamily violence and violence against women.


• Creation, by Decree 423-98, of the National Commission for the Prevention of and Fight against Intrafamily Violence (CONAPLUVI) and its strategic plan.  
  
• Development of a National Model of Assistance. 


• Creation of specialized departments to assist victims of violence in: 


•  General Attorney’s Office of the Republic.


• Secretariat of the State of Health (SESPAS).


• Standards of health assistance to female victims of violence.  


• Department of assistance for abused women.  


• Unit of assistance for and prevention of pregnancy in adolescents in public hospitals.


• Department of Protection for women in the National Police Force.  


• Special units for women’s issues.


• Departments and prosecutors specialized in domestic violence and violence against women, in the District Attorney’s Office of the Distrito Nacional and in the interior of the country.  


• Department of women and minors in the Secretariat of Foreign Relations


• Implementation of the National Program of Assistance for and Prevention of Violence against Women in the entire country.  


• Updating of the National Plan for Gender Equity, with particular emphasis in the component on violence against women.
