“The stand is very interesting and educational. I have learned a lot about the history of taxes and why it’s important to pay them. This is very innovative. I had no idea that taxes existed in ancient civilizations,” said Araceli Alcántara, a teacher at the Saint Francis of Assisi School.
People visiting the Tax Stand, located on the left side of the National Theater, were able to track the evolution of taxes throughout the history of the world’s great civilizations by entering a time travel tunnel which explained how tax collection first began and the role it played in the development of nations, explained a press release from the institution.
Members of the Tax Education Department worked throughout the course of the Book Fair, giving more than 25 different seminars to raise awareness about taxes to adults as well as to children. They used attractive instructive tools as well as gave out many gifts such as coloring and story books, pencil cases and educational board games.
In addition to the Tax Education, the stand offered a tax information area in which tax payers were able to receive information about their RNCs, Tax Forms and other transactions through a Virtual Office.
They also handed out tax-information brochures on the main taxes administered by the DGII. These brochures serve as an orientation for people to gather further information on our webpage: www.dgiieduca.gov.do.
