The Ministry of Culture and the Office of the First Lady introduced the training program “Progressing” at the International Book Fair. The presentation was made at a meeting in the Artisans Pavilion.

The Progressing program has six large professional technical training centers that offer over 60 occupational prospects and 80 community centers.

Information about the program was given by Claudina Váldez, representative from the Office of the First Lady. Ms. Váldez expressed her satisfaction to be working with so many young people and adults who, through this new program, are getting trained and prepared join the labor market.

“There are many benefits and possible achievements on offer to young people and adults who take part in the courses and workshops we are offering, with which they will be able to improve their quality of lives while also promoting our country’s art and culture,” said Váldez.

She added that “Progressing” is currently made up of more than 2,000 men and women who, along with the Ministry of Culture, are working to alleviate such social problems as prostitution, drug addiction and other issues that affect the Dominican youth.

The Progressing program has six large professional technical training centers that offer over 60 occupational prospects and 80 community centers.

The mission of the program is to develop innovative processes in the area of technical-vocational education, encouraging comparative advantages of personal and labor-force competitiveness thus helping families involved in Progressing to improve their work situations, wages and long-term stability.
