National Call for Project Ideas

The National Dominican Commission for UNESCO announces the national call for project ideas proposals that could be implemented through the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour-UNESCO Fund.

On November 2006, UNESCO and the Sony Ericsson Women’s Tennis Association Tour (SE WTA Tour), the world's premier sport for women, launched a new cooperation program to promote gender equality and foster women’s leadership in all spheres of society.

The Fund’s Directive Committee will analyze the ideas presented through the call for project ideas and will sponsor them depending on the funding available for the most promising and effective projects. The project proposals will be developed and executed after justifying its relevance and discussing them with UNESCO Regional Offices and National Commissions.

Project Ideas should be sent no later than August 14th 2007, including the following information:

• Brief description of the project idea including the objective, expected results, and your interest in promoting gender equality.
• Geographic location at the community, national or regional level.
• People or groups that will directly benefit from the proposed project.
• List of associated organizations and eventual (national) co-sponsors of the initiative. 
• Planned activities.
• Relation with the national development plans/strategies, especially in issues related to empowering women and gender equality
• Total estimated budget of the project, recognizing that the maximum amount assigned per project will be US$20,000

Note: UNESCO will only process project ideas that have been submitted through the National Commission in each country
