Historically, the main industry sectors of the Dominican economy have been agriculture and fishing, manufacture, commerce and construction. Studying the pattern for the last few years, we can see that the tourism industry and the telecommunications industry as well as the remittance market have advanced significantly and are now also considered a priority in terms of domestic production.  In general, if we provide an overview of the percentage participation of these key industries, we can see that they represent more than 60% of the Gross Domestic Product of the Dominican Republic, since the 1970s.
