Regulations Decree 801-2002 prohibits the capture of wild animals in the national territory with the exception of some that could become plagues or that are not in danger.The capture, killing, mutilation or captivity of wild animals and wildlife, such as the collection of eggs, nests and feathers, is prohibited in the entire national territory. This includes frogs, crocodiles, iguanas, snakes, lizards, hicoteas, sea turtles, birds, hutias, deer, rabbits, wild pigs, manatees and bats. Hunting permits. Hunting is allowed, under special permits. For the Spottedbacked Weaver (Ploceus cucullatus), in the areas of sorghum and corn crops; the Shiny Cowbird (Molothrus bonariensis), the Spice Finch or Scaly-breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata) and the Black-headed Nun or Chesnut Mannikin (Lonchura malaca) in the cocoa and citrus crops. Hunting Prohibitions. Limited hunting of migratory species also permitted between November 15 and March 30, from six a.m. to six p.m. and only on weekends and holidays. Up to 15 pieces per hunger are allowed of the Norther Pintail (Anus acuta), Green Winged Teal (Anas creca), Blue Winged Teal (Anas discors), American Wingeon (Anas americaqna), Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata), Lesser Scaup (Aythya affinis) and Ring Necked Duck (Aythya collaris). Only three pieces per hunter of Numida Guineafowl are allowed. In the cases of the Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) and the White Winged Dove (Zenaida asiática), only 50 pieces per hunter are allowed. Warning: To hunt in the Dominican Republic, a special permit is required.
