Theaters in Dominican Republic
NATIONAL THEATER
An official entity created in August 1973, it is the main center for shows and theatrical productions in the Dominican Republic. It houses three theaters: Eduardo Brito, the main theater, with capacity for 1,800 people; the Ravelo theater, which accommodates up to 200 people and the Culture room, with 225 seats.
Throughout almost the whole year the Ravelo presents plays by the best playwrights in the country. The Eduardo Brito is the stage for larger-scale plays, although less often, because it houses shows from popular stars, symphonic concerts and ballet productions.
The culture room offers musical appreciation and theater courses, at different times throughout the year, amongst other artistic activities.

It is the most important of all spaces for shows and theatrical productions in the city of Santiago and the Cibao region. This space is the location for many productions, both classical and popular in style
On the premises they offer theater courses and musical appreciation classes, talks on popular music and current affair debates.

Compañía Nacional de Teatro
It is the official body appointed by the National Office of Fine Arts. It organizes popular productions for the general public. Its work includes the staging of plays, as well as lectures on poetry and theatre plays.

Casa de Teatro
One of the most active cultural centers in the country, since Freddy Ginebra founded it in 1974. Throughout the year, this 250-seater space offers theatrical productions and musical productions. In the same building there are gallery rooms, which houses painting and photographic displays and other artistic exhibitions. There is also a theatre café that offers concerts every night.

Las Máscaras, under the direction of Germana Quintana and Lidia Ariza. It offers productions on weekends, On several Thursdays throughout the year it presents “monologue Thursdays” when actors from different schools of acting and styles perform for a month.

La Cuarta Espacio Teatral
It is the space for alternative independent theatre, founded in 1999 by a group of young Dominican theater actors. It stages plays throughout the year.
