All Things Dominican Launched in the Heart of Santiago de los Caballeros
Santiago de los Caballeros, May 6, 2016

Lo Dominicano/All Things Dominican, a unique GFDD/Funglode publication, was launched yesterday in Santiago de los Caballeros at the iconic Centro León before an avid and diverse public interested in learning about some of the less known and picturesque aspects of Dominicanness. The Director of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in New York, Yamile Eusebio Paulino, said that "with this publication, directed by the Executive Director of GFDD, Natasha Despotovic, we seek to reach to the heart of Dominicans who live in the country and abroad. It is a book that compiles many years of research and presents the essence of the Dominican Republic, capturing all the virtues of Dominicans and their land."

The General Coordinator of Education, Entertainment, and Communications at Centro León, María Belissa Ramírez, welcomed the audience and stressed the importance that a publication with these characteristics has, "which combines a number of facets of Dominicans and brings us closer to our roots and customs, as well as reinforces our values and appreciation for what we have”. Ramirez thanked the choice of EL Patio Caribeño for such a special occasion On the other hand, Yamile Eusebio Paulino explained that the bilingual (Spanish and English) publication has an emphasis on intriguing and little known details. "Deals with the tangible and intangible, the traditional and the modern, the creative expressions that reflect what being a Dominican stands for."

Rafael Solano, moreover, highlighted that Lo Dominicano / All Things Dominican reminds us of what we Dominicans "really" are, and called upon the reading of the publication as a way to "rediscover aspects of our culture".

The director of Centro León, Carlos Uribe, attended the ceremony and congratulated the team of GFDD for their extraordinary work and for sharing with the audience valuable information about the book related to, among other issues, to the Carnival, the importance of preserving the Dominican traditions or monuments that are located across the country, as well as the Dominican gastronomic diversity.
