Also present was the artisan Mercedes Polanco with an exhibition of handicrafts of the Dominican Republic, made here in New York.

Mr. Tilo Rivas offered attendees his impressions of the book and expressed that "Being Dominican is not just a title, it is a commitment." He also urged the public to study each chapter carefully and pass on this knowledge to the new generations. In turn, Mr. Ricardo Ureña shared his extensive knowledge of the Dominican folklore, explaining the origin of the rhythm known as "Pambiche" among other fun facts and delighted the audience with a dance demonstration of the different rhythms of the country including the famous "Diablos Cojuelos,” typical of this time of carnival.

During the event the participants also tasted some typical Dominican food at the Restaurant 809 Sangria Bar & Grill. Its owner, Cirilo Moronta, thanked GFDD / Funglode for promoting the values and the Dominican culture.

"As always Funglode bringing great things for our community, especially when it comes to the Dominican Republic, I think it's a way for us to keep us informed, know our history, geography ... has been extraordinary" express Jaqueline Guilamo, cultural and community activist.
