    Emilie Conway at the Second Edition of the Jazzomanía Jazz Festival

    The Jazzomanía radio program announced the celebration of the Second Jazzomanía Jazz Festival, with the presentation of renowned artist Emilie Conway, who will offer a single concert on April 27, at 8 p.m., at the Palace of Fine Arts of the Dominican capital.

    The Jazzomanía Jazz Festival (The JJ Fest) is the festival that was created by a radio program that has been on air for 20 years. It is the longest standing in Latin America along with a Mexican festival of Unam Radio.

    The Second Jazzomanía Jazz Festival, which will take place at Quinta Dominica and the Palace of Fine Arts on April 27, promises to contribute to the celebration from the Caribbean. First, its relationship with the Jazz International Board, which sent a congratulatory letter in 2014 on the occasion of the first edition at Quinta Dominica, with the presentation of Stephen Anderson, Edward Thirpen, musicians from North Carolina, USA, and Guillo Carias and his Jazzomanía quartet which was also made of Guy Frometa and Cuquito Moré, in the drums and electric bass, respectively.

    “Once again the Jazzomanía Jazz Festival, sponsored by the Jazzomanía radio program, offers avant-garde jazz in between oceans: Europe and the United States,” explained its organizers Carlos Francisco Elías and Tony Domínguez.

    Emilie Conway, born in Dublin and trained in the Chicago jazz, has a 20-year career span during which she has achieved remarkable international success. She is currently one of the 10 best singers of the genre. She is joined by Johnny Taylor, a high caliber pianist, and by Damian Evans, internationally renowned bassist at big festivals.

    The general admission to this presentation will be RD$500.00 at the Palace of Fine Arts: “Which is a real gift to the listeners of the radio program and jazz fans,” explained the organizers of the show.

    Meanwhile in Paris, the activity is taking place in coordination with the celebration of the International Jazz Day, April 30, at UNESCO’s headquarters. A concert will feature musicians of various nationalities, such as Americans Dee Dee Bridgewater and Al Jarreau, as well as Lebanese Ibrahim Maalouf and Brazilian Claudio Roditi.

    Jazz in between the oceans and the Jazzomania Jazz Festival in the Dominican Republic will start at 8 p.m. on April 27 at the Palace of Fine Arts.
