The "Dominican Treasures" of Santo Domingo: Atarazana Restaurant and Trikke Dominican Republic
    Santo Domingo, February 6th, 2015

The Atarazana Restaurant and Trikke Dominican Republic tourism projects received separate Dominican Treasures certifications from the Dominican Tourism Competitiveness Consortium (CDCT). The certification is based on the global sustainable tourism criteria.

The certification was granted by the CDCT to both businesses with the support of the Government of the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Empowerment Program in Sustainable Tourism that the CDCT runs in 10 tourist destinations in the country. The Dominican Treasures certification takes into account that these businesses are unique and authentically Dominican, that they maintain rigorous quality standards in addition to caring for and preserving the environment. The businesses that received the certification were evaluated according to the following quality criteria: compliance with the laws and regulations, operation, service, staff performance, prices, infrastructure, security, environmental management, communications and marketing.

This initiative is aligned with the key areas of the National Tourism Development Strategy and the Presidential Goals for promoting the certification of tourist facilities that meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability that the tourism activity demands.

Destinations that received the Dominican Treasures certification:

    The Atarazana Restaurant

It offers an exquisite cuisine, a warm and beautiful setting with colonial patios and glass rooftops that are unique in the country. Among its attractions, it offers comfortable air conditioned meeting rooms with the most impressive view of the Alcázar de Diego Colón, where guests can feel that they are part of the history and of the romantic mystique that surrounds the centuries of the discovery. For almost five hundred years it has witnessed and has been the setting of the most beautiful and original marriage proposals, magical and dream weddings, as well as fun birthday parties and christenings.

Offers guided tours of the Colonial City, which are an added value to the routes of interest. This transportation mode allows tourists to maximize their visit, because they can learn more about our historical, cultural and architectural heritage in less time. After completing this tour, which has an estimated duration of one hour, visitors have more leisure time in the Colonial City, so they can appreciate other corners that are not generally visited, as they have limited time to sightsee the full route of the monuments.
