Dominican young man achieves maximum score in Dutch national tests

The Dominican community in the Netherlands feels proud of Gabriel Alexander Payano Mesa, stated Mrs. Elvia Margarita Pérez Núñez, the Dominican Republic’s General Consul in that country.  Gabriel Alexander was born in the Netherlands from Dominican parents and achieved the maximum score of 550 points in the Cito test which is given in all the elementary schools across the Netherlands.  The test evaluates the students’ skills and abilities to determine if they are apt to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

The participants of the Cito test are evaluated in different areas of knowledge such as mathematics, languages, natural sciences, social sciences and skills development in their studies. It allows the classification students according to the level of knowledge gained throughout their elementary school years. Out of a total of 162,000 students who took the test, only 5,900 achieved the maximum score.
Gabriel Alexander Payano attends the Crescendo Pentecostal Evangelic School in the city of Amsterdam. It’s the first time a student from this institution achieves such a high score.  After getting the maximum score, he’ll be able to choose the institution of higher education that better helps him to continue his academic development. His admission to a university is assured. Moreover, it is worth pointing out that in the Dutch education system only a select group of students are able to attend a university.

Pastor Alejandro Lopez from the Encounter with God Evangelical Church stated their commitment to support the student by buying all of his books until the end of his university studies. On the other hand, the Dominican Republic’s General Consul, Mrs. Elvia Margarita Perez Nuñez, committed to support Gabriel Alexander financially so that he can continue his studies.

Gabriel Alexander’s parents are Yalive Mesa and Victor Manuel Payano who with their other son, Michael Payano Mesa, feel very proud of this great accomplishment. Michael also received a high score: 543 points two years ago. This event will also ease his entry to pursue a university degree.
