The culture of Taino ancestors and the indelible print of the colonizers, the African legacy and the arrival of immigrants of other cultures to the half island, the years of cultural and commercial interactions, can be seen in the multiple museums of the country.

The Dominican identity expressed in canvasses, sculptures, costumes and religious beliefs, indigenous pictographs and furniture from various centuries, composes the great cultural heritage preserved by Dominican museums.

In the Ciudad Colonial, fundamental parts of the history of the discovery are shown in various museums that preserve the life style of the colonizers and the ships and tools used to make their transoceanic voyages.
