The people of this municipality of Santiago call their Limping Devils of the Dominican Carnival “Judas.” In this fertile part of the country in the community of Cibao, the February celebration has gained great fame due to the marvelous creativity the residents have shown in the making of their costumes and masks.
The parade, with its inflated cow liver whips, is a burst of forms and colors and music. The accordion that accompanies the marchers keeps them moving along their roads as they pass their farm lands and their parks.
